Achievement: A New Multi-leaf Alfalfa Cultivar‘Huaiyang 4’

Introduction:Alfalfa (Medicago sativa) cv. ‘Huaiyang 4’, a new multi-leaf alfalfa cultivar which was approved by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration of China. This new cultivar shows the promising characteristics with high yield and quality, rapid early growth, and excellent regeneration. More importantly, the percent multifoliate of the plant population is higher than 50% and the content of crude higher than 20.2%. The proposed project will introduce and utilize new multi-leaf alfalfa varieties to promote and boost the commercial production of high-quality alfalfa products. This project will be focusing on promotion of the high-yielding cultivation technology of alfalfa, optimizing the processing technology and realizing the production of high-quality alfalfa products, and solving the factors that limit the quality and industrialization development of alfalfa products in China.
