Project Profile: The research has lasted for more than 13 years. Through long-term, systematic, continuous field trials, the suitable method of determining the appropriate drip flow to ensure unsaturated water movement in saline sodic soil, secondary redistribution of drip irrigation water in soil and depressimeter special buried on saline sodic land were creatively proposed. It was found when the soil matric potential characteristic point were controlled at a certain threshold, not only the rapid leaching of salt could be realized, but also the upward movement of capillary water could be inhibited when the water was buried in shallow groundwater, then the regulation method of water and salt in saline and alkaline land was put forward. Moreover, the technologies for the saline sodic lands to become high production lands in 2 to 3 years were established.
The technology have been international self-contained. This research can make the heavy saline-alkali land which is difficult to develop and utilize by traditional methods be developed and utilized. Meanwhile, the soil could desalinate quickly, the soil physical and chemical properties and microbial conditions improve rapidly and the soil productivity will be greatly increased within 2-3 years, the crops will grow well with yield comparable to the surrounding good fields.
