Project Profile: The research has lasted for more than 20 years. Starting from the process of mechanism research, through the long-term systematic field trials, it was found that controlling the soil matrix potential at characteristic point could effectively control water status in crop root zone, the relationship between the growth and water consumption of more than 20 crops and soil matrix potential was established and water management method of micro-irrigation farmland was proposed. It was found in arid area when the soil matric potential at characteristic point was controlled at a certain threshold, the salt-leaching can be well achieved, and the method of water and salt regulation and precision fertigation for drip irrigation would be put forward. Besides, the “Household division”, “grouping” and “unification” irrigation models for three different types of users were established. Moreover, key equipment such as filtration, fertilizer injection, control system and soil moisture monitoring device was innovated. Meanwhile, “hardware” and “software” integrated into a “dummie” set of technology products have been developed.
The technology have been international self-contained with easy-operating, water saving and yield increasing characteristics. The application is proved that 35% to 63% water can be saved, 16% to 50% yield can be increased, and 110 to 190 yuan be saved per acre per year in production costs.
