Project Name: Catalytic Wet Air Oxidation (CWAO) Technology for Treating High Concentration and Refractory Organic Waste Water
Project Owner: Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences
Project Profile: Catalytic Wet Air Oxidation is an advanced environmental protection technology for treating high concentration organic waste water, which was internationally developed on the basis of wet oxidation in the mid-1980s. Under the action of certain temperature, pressure and catalyst, the organic matter and ammonia in the sewage are oxidized and decomposed into harmless substances such as CO2, H2O and N2 by air oxidation, so as to achieve the purpose of purification. CWAO is characterized by high purification efficiency, simple process and small footprint, with a wide range of industrial applications. CWAO is applicable to the treatment of organic wastewater with high chemical oxygen demand (COD) in coking, dyeing, pesticide, printing and dyeing, petrochemical, leather and other industries, or for the treatment of non-biodegradable compounds such as ammonia nitrogen, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), carcinogen BAP and so on.
