Project Profile: Zinc-nickel single flow batteries have the characteristics of high energy density, safety, environmental friendliness and low cost. The Battery Research Team of Dalian Institute of Chemical Technology has made a deep and systematic study on the zinc-nickel single flow battery technology, which has broken through the bottleneck of the power density restriction and energy storage capacity of the battery, and greatly reduced the system cost. A zinc-nickel single flow of kW grade was successfully developed. By optimizing the battery structure and improving the cathode material transfer, the energy efficiency of the zinc-nickel single flow battery at 40-mA/cm² operations can reach 85%. The battery cost is about 1500 RMB per kWh.
