Project Name: Flow Battery Energy Storage Technology and Application

Project Owner: Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences

Project Profile: After more than ten years of research and development, the Energy Storage Technology Research Department of the Institute has completed the development process from laboratory basic research to industrialized engineering application, from key materials to system integration, and is the only team in the world that has mastered the full industry chain technology of full vanadium flow battery energy storage. The achievements have been applied for more than 200 national patents and granted more than 100 patents. The project achievement won the second prize of the 2015 National Technological Invention Award and the 2015 China Original Technology Award. The first domestic 100 kW systems were demonstrated in 2008, and the world's largest commercial demonstration system of 5 MW/10 MWh all-vanadium reflux batteries was completed in 2012. The technical indicators and industrialization process are at the leading international level. The project has completed more than 30 sets of application demonstration projects, and has taken the lead in building 300 megawatt energy storage equipment bases at home and abroad, and created an emerging industry of flow battery energy storage in China.
