Project Profile: Fluorescence optical fiber temperature online monitoring system is a new technology independently developed by Xi’an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics of China’s Academy of Sciences and Herch Opto Electronic Technology Co,. Ltd. This technology, based on the characteristics found in rare earth fluorescent materials, is used to measure temperature by measurring fluorescence lifespan. The greatest advantage of this method is that the temperature of the monitoring target only relies on the elapsed time of the excited fluorescent material. The accuracy of the measurement is not affected by the light source’s intensity, transmission loss or optical coupling efficiency. In this way, it has high interchange ability, stability, a long life expectancy, and doesn’t need to calibrate measurement. Fluorescence optical fiber temperature sensor has wide temperature range and high accuracy. It can do the real-time dynamic online monitoring of temperature. And it is resistant to high temperatures, aging, rust, and has interference from electricity. So it could be used in those harmful environments of high voltage, high temperature and strong .electromagnetism.
